About Us

Not Quite a Scam was originally the creation of Laura Wheeler, owner of Firelight Web Studio, mom of eight, and home business shoestring startup expert.

Laura believes in integrity and honor in business, and strives to always be 100% truthful in what she presents, no matter whom it offends. She has been featured in two books - The Entrepreneurial Parent, and Get More Business, and has been interviewed and featured as a guest speaker on small business topics. Laura has also written close to a dozen books, and written over 1000 pages of original website content. She is the Web Admin for the Town of Medicine Bow, where she lives with her family.

Laura is the mother of eight children. Two of them are grown and gone, five of them are still home, and one died in infancy. She homeschools the four school-aged children who are home, and juggles her family with her business. She and her husband try to stay involved in their church and community. Her greatest fear in business is that she will gain the notoriety to require a working wardrobe before she has a chance to acquire one!
