Resale Rights Server Software
One of the Resale Rights product categories is Server Software - a PHP script you install onto your server that does something for you automatically. You can use the script, and you can resell it. And the bite won't hit you for quite a while...
And the bite on this one is not one to be taken lightly! These software items are not just flakey, they can be downright dangerous!
I am not prone to exaggeration, Resale Rights Server Software is typically written in a hurry, at the lowest possible cost. This means that they use programmers who either don't know, or don't care, about security issues.
Server software that has "security holes", makes it very easy for someone to get access to parts of your web hosting, to install their own files in there, and to operate YOUR site as a phishing site. The consequence is that your site gets shut down, and worst case, you could even be prosecuted for it.
There is a ton of good Open Source server software out there. It is free to use, and if you use only stuff that is regularly updated, it is safe to use. The major difference is that Open Source software IS regularly updated, so when someone finds a vulnerability (an easy way for someone to hack it), a patch is released to address the issue.
With resale rights server software, there IS no support. Not only is the software hasty and buggy to start, but when a vulnerability is found, nobody does anything about it. So in the hacker world, that piece of software gets added to a list - which scammers use to systematically search the web for sites using that software. When they find one, they exploit it. And nobody does anything to try to stop them.
There are two kinds of server software - stuff that you use, that nobody else has access to, and stuff that is meant to allow users to access it and use it for some purpose or other. The second kind is the most dangerous. If you take, for example, Article Site Builder software, and install it onto a domain which is not registered, and you operate it and take the sites that it creates, and install them on a DIFFERENT server, then nobody else knows you are running server software on your
private server. On the other hand, if you use Pixel Ad software, or Article Site Management software (a different thing than Builder software), which allows people to sign up for an account, and which uses email functions, you are running a HUGE risk, because it is only a matter of time before your site is found and used for illegal purposes.
The seriousness of this is not exaggerated in any way. If you want to run a stable business, avoid any kind of Resale Rights Server software that is designed to allow access by site visitors, or which is designed to send emails.
